POWERTEX CORDURA®

In ski mountaineering, some descents are earned the hard way. The harder the climb, the greater the satisfaction on finding a perfect steep, snowy couloir. Challenging snow-covered, rocky ascents, with some sections of technical ice climbing, require reliable waterproof, windproof and abrasion-resistant clothing. SALEWA® developed its proprietary, highly robust Powertex CORDURA® fabric specifically for this purpose. Its 3-layer laminate construction guarantees to keep the weather out, while the ultra-thin polyurethane (PU) membrane ensures that moisture vapour from sweat can escape to the outside. The outer layer is made of 94% highly abrasion-resistant CORDURA® nylon (polyamide) with 6% elastane content for greater stretch freedom of movement. The CORDURA® fibres also give the fabric a timeless rugged, matt appearance. And to ensure that water droplets bead off the outside and support the function of the membrane, SALEWA® treats the outer surface with an eco-friendly, PFC-free durably water-repellent finish.
